About

Woolwich Dockyard is located in southeast London along the southern bank of the River Thames. The area is historically defined by its industrial and maritime past, centred around the former Royal Dockyard established in the early 16th century. Today, the ward contains a mix of residential housing, modern developments, and significant tracts of post-industrial land awaiting regeneration. Its riverfront provides direct views across to the Thames Barrier and the industrial landscapes of Silvertown.

A key local feature is the substantial surviving infrastructure of the old dockyard, including the Grade II listed Dockyard Clockhouse. The area is also home to Woolwich Arsenal station, a major transport interchange. Open space is provided by the linear Thames Path and the green expanse of Woolwich Common to the south, which borders the military barracks. The ward's character is heavily shaped by ongoing large-scale construction projects within the wider Woolwich regeneration area.
