About

Worksop North is the northern sector of Worksop in the Bassetlaw district, centred on residential streets and local services rather than the town centre. The area forms an electoral ward for Bassetlaw District Council and contains primary schools, small shopping parades and community centres that serve nearby streets. Much of the housing includes terraces and mid-20th-century estates laid out during the town’s coal-mining expansion, and a band of allotments and small greens follows part of the River Ryton as it skirts the town’s northern edge.

Transport links connect the area to the rest of Worksop by frequent bus services and short drives to the town’s railway station. Community life often centres on parish halls, school facilities and a small industrial estate that provides local employment. There are a number of footpaths that pick their way through former mining ground, where traces of coal-working infrastructure remain in earthworks and boundary walls rather than in working pits.
