Yardley Fields

Yardley Fields sits in the east of Birmingham as part of the broader Yardley district. The area is mainly residential, with a mix of Victorian terraces and interwar semi-detached houses, and a string of local shops and services along the main roads. Buses run regularly to Birmingham city centre and to nearby districts, and small parks and playing fields are scattered through the neighbourhood. Community facilities include primary schools, a library and a few sports pitches, which local residents use for weekend football and informal gatherings.

The old village core remains visible around the parish church of St Edburgha, where medieval fabric survives alongside later repairs and a 15th-century tower. That church and the small green form a focal point for some local events and mark the historical heart of Yardley Fields. Housing estates and later infill sit around this centre, and everyday life here is organised around schools, shops and the local bus routes rather than major transport hubs.
