Anglesey

Anglesey ward occupies the northern area of Gosport, bordered by the waters of Portsmouth Harbour. The ward contains the main residential districts of Elson and Hardway, characterised by rows of terraced and semi-detached housing built from the late Victorian period onwards. Local shopping parades serve the community's daily needs along roads like Elson Road. The geography is largely flat, with some open green spaces including Elson Recreation Ground.

The area has a strong naval and industrial heritage, historically linked to the nearby Royal Clarence Yard. A notable local feature is the Creek, a tidal inlet that separates Elson from Hardway and is crossed by a small bridge. The ward's proximity to the harbour means maritime activity is a constant backdrop. Residential streets are generally quiet, with a mix of private and social housing defining the built environment.
