Bingley

Bingley ward lies in the western part of the Bradford district, encompassing the market town of Bingley itself and several surrounding villages, including Eldwick and Gilstead. The area is defined by its position within the Aire Valley, with the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and the River Aire running through it. The landscape transitions from urban centres to wooded valleys and open moorland on the fringes, notably including part of Baildon Moor.

The ward's history is rooted in the textile industry, with former mills now often converted for other uses. A notable local feature is the Bingley Five Rise Locks, a steep staircase lock on the canal considered a significant feat of 18th-century engineering. The town centre retains a mix of independent shops and chain stores, serving the local residential communities which range from Victorian terraces to more modern housing developments.
