About

Boreham and Little Baddow sit on the northern and western fringes of Chelmsford, each village surrounded by farmland, hedgerows and small woodland pockets. Boreham clusters around a village centre with a parish church, shops and a school, and sits close to the A12 corridor that links the district to the rest of Essex. The old airfield at Boreham is visible in the landscape; its perimeter tracks were later used by Ford for vehicle testing and fragments of those surfaces and associated buildings remain in places around the site, marking a twentieth‑century chapter in the parish’s use of open land.

Little Baddow lies to the west of the city and is threaded by a network of lanes and footpaths that meet wooded slopes and ponds. The village retains a traditional layout with a village green, a parish church and a village hall that host local events and societies. Agricultural land and small copses create a pattern of fields and shelterbelts used by walkers and riders, and the area’s footpath network links residential pockets to surrounding farmland and woodland.
