Bro Aberffraw

Bro Aberffraw ward encompasses the western coastline of Anglesey, centred on the village of Aberffraw itself. The area is defined by the broad estuary of the River Ffraw, which meets the Irish Sea here, creating a landscape of saltmarsh and tidal channels. Inland, the terrain is largely agricultural, with fields divided by traditional stone walls and hedgerows. The ward includes the hamlet of Bodorgan and stretches to the expansive dune systems of Tywyn Aberffraw, a designated nature reserve.

The area's history is significant, as Aberffraw was the principal court of the medieval Kingdom of Gwynedd. This legacy is subtly present in the local topography and place names rather than through major surviving structures. The single-track railway line, part of the North Wales Coast line, runs through the ward, serving the request stop at Bodorgan. The economy remains closely tied to the land and sea, with farming and tourism focused on the quiet beaches and coastal paths.
