Broad Green & Waddon Marsh

Broad Green and Waddon Marsh form a primarily residential and industrial segment in the western part of Croydon. The area is defined by the Purley Way, a major arterial road lined with large retail parks and warehouse units. Housing consists mainly of interwar and post-war terraced homes and apartment blocks, offering more affordable options within the borough. The landscape is largely urban, with the notable open space of Waddon Ponds providing a local green corridor.

The area is a significant transport hub, containing the Croydon Colonnades bus station and the Purley Way gyratory system. Waddon Marsh is home to the Croydon Sewage Treatment Works, a major facility serving much of the local population. The presence of the River Wandle, which flows through Waddon Ponds and alongside the treatment works, adds a natural element to the otherwise built-up environment. This practical zone serves as a key logistical and residential district for the wider town.
