Brundall & Cantley

Brundall and Cantley sit along the River Yare in Broadland, forming a ribbon of waterways, marshes and boatsheds that link fields to the Broads network. Brundall’s riverfront contains boatyards, a marina and mooring points, with two local stations — Brundall and Brundall Gardens — on the Wherry Lines providing rail access along the Yare corridor. Narrow lanes, public footpaths and riverside towpaths thread through reedbeds and smallholding plots, and private moorings sit alongside family houses and riverside businesses.

Cantley lies a short distance north of the river and is marked by the sugar factory and its chimney close to Cantley station, a familiar sight to commuters and river users. Surrounding Cantley Marshes are grazed flood meadows and ditches that support wetland birds and wetland plants, with tracks linking farms, boatyards and village services. Local pubs, a village hall and primary school serve residents, while seasonal river traffic and boat repair trades keep the riverside economy active.
