Capstone

Capstone is an area of Gillingham in the Medway unitary authority, in north Kent. Much of the neighbourhood is defined by Capstone Country Park, which occupies a large part of the local landscape. Residential streets sit close to the park and are linked by footpaths that lead directly into its network of trails. Local amenities are modest: a community centre, small shops and bus connections provide day-to-day services for residents. The mix of housing borders open space, so access to green routes is a regular part of local life.

Capstone Country Park contains woodland, meadows, ponds and a central lake. Medway Council manages the site and runs a visitor centre housed in the old farm buildings, where maps and seasonal notices are available. Waymarked paths cross coppice and grassland, with benches and picnic areas beside the main routes. The lake supports waterfowl and reed growth along its margins, and the park is a base for school nature visits, informal birdwatching and short circular walks from the surrounding streets.
