Cimla and Pelenna

Cimla and Pelenna is a residential ward situated on the northern outskirts of Neath, characterised by its elevated position on the hills overlooking the town. The area is primarily composed of housing estates, ranging from post-war terraces to more modern developments, with local shops and schools serving the community. Its topography offers extensive views across the Neath Valley towards the distant outline of the Brecon Beacons.

The ward encompasses several distinct neighbourhoods, including the village of Cimla itself and the communities within the Pelenna Valley. A notable local feature is the historic incline railway route, remnants of which can still be traced through the landscape, speaking to the area's past connections to the coal mining industry that once dominated the wider region. Green spaces and wooded valleys provide accessible countryside on the doorstep.
