Farnham sits at the foot of the Surrey Hills and developed around Farnham Castle and the course of the River Wey. A seasonal chalk stream known locally as the Bourne rises on the slopes and can flow through low-lying parts of the town after prolonged rain. The town centre contains Farnham Pottery and Farnham Maltings, alongside Castle Street and the parish church, and serves as the local hub for shops, services and community events.
