Harefield

Harefield is a village in the London Borough of Hillingdon on the north‑western edge of Greater London, set beside the Colne Valley. The built core sits around a village green and St Mary’s church, with a mixture of terraces, cottages and post‑war housing that meet green belt farmland. Local services include a primary school, small shops and community facilities that serve residents across surrounding hamlets. Footpaths and lanes run from the village down to meadowland and river channels, forming part of the Colne Valley network used by walkers and riders.

Harefield also contains Harefield Hospital, a specialist cardiothoracic centre within the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, which anchors healthcare provision in the area. To the north and east, former wartime airfield land and open fields give way to allotments and sports grounds, and small conservation sites preserve pockets of meadow habitat. Road links run toward Uxbridge and the A40 corridor, while quieter lanes and towpath routes provide local commuter and leisure options.
