Hatfield East

Hatfield East sits on the eastern side of the Hatfield suburb in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, roughly four miles from Doncaster town centre. The area is centred on the Sheffield–Hull rail line, with Hatfield and Stainforth station close by, and regular bus services linking to the town. Housing is a mix of mid-20th-century estate streets and more recent infill, with a primary school, a small parade of shops and playing fields serving local residents. A conspicuous feature when arriving by train is the long straight of the railway and the station platform set against low-lying residential streets.

The eastern edge of Hatfield East meets land once worked for coal; the former Hatfield Main Colliery site and its associated industrial plots are visible from parts of the neighbourhood. That legacy has shaped road patterns and local employment, with a cluster of small industrial units and community facilities nearby. Commuters use the local roads and nearby motorway link to reach Doncaster and beyond, while day-to-day life revolves around the school, community centre and the modest shopping parade.
