About

Havant district lies on Hampshire's south coast in South East England. The borough includes Havant town, Waterlooville, Emsworth, Hayling Island and villages such as Rowlands Castle and Northney. The coastline runs from the tidal flats around Langstone Harbour to the sandy shore of Hayling Island; Emsworth keeps a working quay and small-scale oyster beds that still supply local markets. The disused Hayling Island railway has been converted into the Hayling Billy path, a linear greenway used by walkers and cyclists between Havant and the island.

Further inland the landscape shifts to farmland, woodlands and managed greenspace. Havant Thicket contains a reservoir and new tree planting that form a local nature reserve, while Staunton Country Park preserves parkland and lakes. Town centres mix retail, civic buildings and market spaces; industrial and service sectors are concentrated around Waterlooville and the industrial estates north of Havant. Community events, local clubs and sailing on the harbour shape everyday life, and the district's layout reflects both coastal and suburban development patterns.
