Highfield & Willesborough

Highfield and Willesborough lie just east of Ashford town centre, straddling the banks of the Great Stour. The area comprises a mix of post‑war and newer housing interspersed with pockets of open land, allotments and playing fields. A restored tower windmill on Mill Lane stands close to the river and is a familiar local landmark. St Mary’s church and a handful of small shopping parades serve neighbourhood day‑to‑day needs.

Community facilities include primary schools, a community centre and several local pubs. Riverside paths follow stretches of the Stour and link green spaces that form part of Ashford’s network of riverside corridors. Bus routes connect the area with Ashford International station and the town centre, while short road links meet the A2070 and A28. Regular footpaths and cycle lanes make the area walkable for daily errands and outings to nearby parks, and seasonal birdlife can be seen along the river margins.
