Lostwithiel & Lanreath

Lostwithiel & Lanreath ward covers a rural area in central Cornwall, centred on the historic stannary town of Lostwithiel on the River Fowey. The town's medieval street plan remains, focused around the granite spire of St Bartholomew's Church and the 13th-century Restormel Castle on a nearby hill. The area's economy has historically been linked to tin streaming and the river's port, with the surrounding landscape characterised by wooded valleys and farmland.

The ward extends to include smaller settlements like Lanreath, known for its 15th-century church and local museum. The geography is defined by tributaries of the Fowey, creating a patchwork of fields and ancient woodland. A notable feature is the Eden Project, located within the ward's boundaries, its vast biomes constructed in a reclaimed china clay pit. This contrasts with the quiet, pastoral atmosphere of the countryside and working agricultural land that dominates the area.
