Malin Bridge & Wisewood

Malin Bridge sits where the Rivers Loxley and Rivelin meet, on Sheffield’s north‑west fringe. The rivers shape the streets and footpaths, with stone bridges, weirs and the remains of industrial sites along the banks. A small commercial parade serves the neighbourhood, and paths that follow the river corridors link to the Rivelin Valley Nature Trail. The area still carries marks of the 1864 flood that swept through the confluence, visible in older masonry and the raised riverbanks.

Wisewood lies to the east and developed largely as a council estate in the early 20th century, with rows of housing, green play spaces and allotments that sit above the Loxley valley. Local schools and sports pitches anchor community life, and a network of lanes connects Wisewood into the valley walks and reservoirs higher up the Loxley. The combination of riverside routes and quiet residential streets makes the two neighbourhoods practical for everyday shopping, riverside walking and short trips into Sheffield.
