Marchwood & Eling

Marchwood & Eling ward sits on the western shore of Southampton Water, characterised by its working waterfront and areas of coastal marshland. The ward includes the village of Marchwood, with its industrial port and military presence, and the historic settlement of Eling. The landscape is a mix of residential streets, commercial port operations, and tidal creeks, with the A35 trunk road forming a significant transport route through the area.

A central feature is Eling Tide Mill, one of the few remaining operational tide mills in the UK, situated beside the causeway over the Bartley Water inlet. The area includes the extensive mudflats of the Test estuary, important for birdlife, and the adjacent Eling Recreation Ground. Totton and the New Forest proper lie directly to the north, while the ward's shoreline offers views across the water to the container terminals of the Port of Southampton.
