About

Margam is a large, mostly rural ward stretching from the coast up into the Margam Moors. It contains the historic Margam Abbey and the expansive Margam Country Park, a popular destination with its museum and deer herd. The area includes the Port Talbot Steelworks, a dominant industrial presence along the shoreline, and the residential neighbourhood of Margam itself sits inland from the works.

Its housing is primarily post-war, consisting of terraced and semi-detached homes. The ward is bordered by the River Afan to the west and is close to the shopping facilities and transport links of the town centre, including the nearby railway station.
