Meanwood

Meanwood is a suburb of Leeds centred on Meanwood Road, where a small parade of shops, pubs and cafés forms a local hub. The area contains a mix of housing types and a primary school, and local groups use the community centre and sports pitches. Street patterns step down into the valley carved by a stream that gives the area its name, and residents commonly move between homes and the green corridor on foot or by bike.

Green space is a defining part of Meanwood. Meanwood Beck runs through the neighbourhood, visible in stretches where the channel narrows into pools and short drops, and it is followed by the Meanwood Valley Trail as it threads past parkland, pockets of woodland and informal paths. Meanwood Park provides open grass and play areas, while the trail links smaller reserves and walking routes used for dog walking and local events. Small independent shops, community groups and familiar meeting places give the place its local character.
