Middleton-on-Sea is a coastal village situated between Bognor Regis and Littlehampton in the Arun district. The area is characterised by a mix of residential housing, with many properties having direct access to the shingle beach. The shoreline is backed by a grassy promenade and a line of beach huts, providing a focal point for local walks. The village centre contains a few local shops and services catering to residents.

The built environment includes both older, more established homes and newer developments. A notable feature is the presence of the former RAF Middleton-on-Sea, a Second World War airfield site, parts of which have been repurposed for housing.
