New Quay & Penbryn

New Quay is a coastal settlement centred around its harbour, with a working pier and a mix of fishing and leisure boats. The town climbs steeply from the waterfront, with narrow streets leading to elevated viewpoints over Cardigan Bay. The coastline here is rugged, featuring cliffs and a series of small, accessible beaches like Traeth Gwyn. The area is part of the Ceredigion Heritage Coast, with the headland offering a starting point for the coastal path.

Inland, the landscape transitions to the broader, rural parish containing Penbryn. This area is characterised by rolling farmland and wooded valleys that lead down to a distinct, wide sandy beach. Penbryn Beach is accessed via a long, single-track lane through fields and a National Trust car park. The beach itself is notable for its expanse of sand at low tide and a large, seasonal stream that crosses it. The surrounding cliffs are part of a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.
