Oadby South & West

Oadby South & West is a residential ward in the borough of Oadby and Wigston, lying to the southeast of Leicester. The area is made up of a mix of housing from late 19th- and 20th-century developments, with short terraces and semi-detached homes arranged on a grid of local streets. There are small shopping parades, primary schools and pocket parks that serve day-to-day needs, and a network of bus routes that link the ward to Leicester city centre and neighbouring parts of Oadby. Street trees and small front gardens are a common sight along many roads.

Community activity centres on local halls, playing fields and schools, where clubs and groups meet through the week. The built form includes rows of red-brick terraces with bay windows and narrow back lanes that reflect the town’s growth in the early 1900s, and a number of public open spaces used for informal sport and walking. Local services are concentrated along the main roads through the ward, making most amenities a short walk from residential streets.
