About

Ormesby is a village and civil parish in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland, set on gently rolling ground east of the Tees. The settlement retains a clear village centre with a green, rows of local shops and a parish church dedicated to St Cuthbert. Ormesby Beck runs through the parkland south of the village and through the grounds of Ormesby Hall, where the house and formal gardens are managed by the National Trust. The hall’s later Georgian frontage was built over an older core, and the estate layout still shapes roads and footpaths in the area.

Local life combines retained village features with modern services: a primary school, community hall and small businesses serve residents, while regular bus services link the parish to nearby centres. Several listed buildings cluster around the village, and footpaths across the former estate allow direct access to the walled garden and parkland. Land use remains largely residential with pockets of public open space and allotments that follow the valley of the beck.
