Paddock Wood & Five Oak Green

Paddock Wood is a market town in the borough of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, located where village streets meet a railway corridor. The town expanded in the 19th century as rail links carried agricultural produce and hop harvests to market. There is a railway station with regular services to London and towns across Kent, primary schools, shops and light industrial estates on the town edge. The settlement sits at a crossroads of country lanes and retains pockets of allotments and green buffers between housing areas.

Five Oak Green lies immediately to the south of Paddock Wood and sits within the same landscape of hop gardens and oast houses. Farm tracks and public footpaths run from the village into arable fields; conical oast kilns punctuate the skyline. Local life centres on a village hall, a pub and community sports facilities. The area supports seasonal agricultural work and small-scale food production while also serving residents who commute by rail.
