Padstow sits at the mouth of the River Camel on Cornwall’s north coast and functions as a working fishing port and small harbour. The parish of St Issey lies just inland from Padstow and is largely agricultural, made up of fields, lanes and scattered hamlets. Little Petherick Creek runs into the Camel estuary from this parish, narrowing to shallow channels and saltmarsh before the tide comes in. A village church marks the centre of community activity, and lanes lead to farmsteads and coastal viewpoints.
