Peacehaven West

Peacehaven West is a ward on the south coast in the district of Lewes, sitting on the cliff top above the English Channel. The area contains mostly residential streets laid out in the early and mid-20th century, local shops and community facilities along central avenues, and primary schools and a community centre. The Greenwich Prime Meridian runs through the town and is marked at several points, a reference that appears in street names and community signs in parts of Peacehaven West. Local governance is through Lewes District Council and the town council.

The cliff-top position gives short pedestrian routes down to the shingle beach via public steps and promenades, and open views across the channel. The A259 coastal road provides road links, and regular buses serve routes along the coast. Small green spaces and pocket parks sit between housing estates and there are sports pitches and allotments used by community clubs. The built form and the pattern of streets make Peacehaven West a compact, walkable residential sector within the wider Lewes district.
