Pellon West & Highroad Well

Pellon West and Highroad Well form a residential quarter north of Halifax town centre in Calderdale. Streets are dominated by stone-built terraces and interspersed semi-detached houses that largely date from the 19th century when local textile works expanded. A parade of small shops and services runs along Highroad Well, and community buildings such as churches and clubs serve the neighbourhood. Public buses link the area with Halifax and surrounding districts, and small industrial and commercial units sit close to the main roads that cross the district.

The area occupies higher ground above the Calder Valley, with Pellon Moor to the north and long, straight streets that follow the ridge. Short footpaths and back lanes provide direct walking routes toward Boothtown and Halifax, and a number of pocket green spaces and allotments are scattered between housing blocks. Street patterns and stone boundary walls visible across the neighbourhood reflect its industrial-era origins and local building traditions.
