Perry Barr & South Hamstead

Perry Barr is a residential district in northwest Birmingham, featuring a mix of suburban housing estates and larger educational institutions. The area is anchored by the Perry Barr campus of Birmingham City University and the Alexander Stadium, a major athletics venue that was redeveloped for the Commonwealth Games. Local shopping needs are served by the One Stop Shopping Centre, and the area is bordered by the Tame Valley Canal, providing green corridors for walking and cycling.

South of the A4040, the area transitions into the quieter, more residential neighbourhood of South Hamstead. It is characterised by Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing, with local shops concentrated along Hamstead Road.
