Pontnewydd & Upper Cwmbran

Pontnewydd and Upper Cwmbran sit within Cwmbran, in the borough of Torfaen in south Wales. The area combines older streets with housing from the New Town era, local schools, small shopping parades and a compact industrial estate that provides local employment. A railway corridor and regular bus services link the neighbourhoods to the town centre and onward routes. Planned green corridors and playing fields run through the area, giving direct walking routes between residential streets and the valley below, and the New Town designation from 1949 influenced much of the street layout and public open space provision.

Upper Cwmbran occupies higher ground above Pontnewydd, with terraces and post-war semi-detached housing laid out to follow the contours.
