Pontypridd East & Cilfynydd

Pontypridd East encompasses the town centre on the eastern bank of the River Taff, characterised by its historic market and the Old Bridge, a notable stone structure from the 18th century. The area functions as a commercial and transport hub for the wider valleys, with retail and administrative buildings concentrated here. The landscape is shaped by the confluence of the Taff and Rhondda rivers, with steep valley sides defining its limits.

Adjacent to the north, Cilfynydd is a former mining village set along the Taff Valley. Its layout is linear, following the main road and river, with residential streets climbing the hillsides. The area includes the large, wooded grounds of Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, providing extensive green space.
