Poplar Central

Poplar Central sits in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, around Poplar High Street and East India Dock Road. The area mixes residential streets, council estates and local shops clustered along Chrisp Street and Poplar High Street. Poplar DLR station and numerous bus routes provide direct links across east London, and the town hall and library sit within short walking distance of the market. Chrisp Street was developed as the first purpose-built pedestrian shopping precinct for the 1951 Festival of Britain, and the Lansbury Estate retains its street layout from that post-war reconstruction.
