About

Preston Park sits to the north of Brighton city centre and is centred on the public park of the same name. The park covers a substantial area of playing fields, lawns and planted borders and includes tennis courts, bowling greens and a small café. Preston Park railway station stands on the park’s eastern edge, on the Brighton Main Line, giving direct local services into the city and beyond. Surrounding streets are mainly Victorian terraces and interwar housing, with local shops and family-run businesses along Ditchling Road and Preston Drove.

Community use defines much of the area: weekend football matches, summer open-air events and regular farmers’ stalls appear on the parkland. Each August the park becomes the main site for Brighton Pride’s festival, with stages and marquees laid out across the central lawns. Residents benefit from quick access to green space while remaining within easy reach of central Brighton by bike or train, and local groups run gardening and volunteer projects that keep the park in daily use.
