Pyle is a linear village situated along the main A48 road, with residential streets extending to the north and south. The community is centred around its railway station, providing a direct link to Cardiff and Swansea. To the east lies the large Kenfig Industrial Estate, a significant local employer. The area is largely residential, with local shops and services concentrated along the through road.

Immediately to the west, the separate community of Kenfig Hill sits on slightly higher ground.

Cefncribwr is a smaller village to the northwest, characterised by older stone-built houses. The area is defined by its proximity to the M4 motorway, which runs to the south, and by the remnants of its industrial past in the nearby valleys. The landscape is a mix of housing and reclaimed land, with the Kilton Viaduct, a former railway structure, spanning the valley near Cefncribwr.
