Seaton Carew is a coastal area on the North Sea, forming the southern part of Hartlepool. Its long, sandy beach is backed by a promenade and stretches from the mouth of the River Tees in the north to the dunes of Teesmouth National Nature Reserve in the south. The layout is linear, with residential streets running parallel to the shore.

The area has a traditional seaside character, with amusements and cafes along the front. The local golf course is situated directly on the dunes. Seaton Carew is also known for its historic lighthouse, a white cylindrical tower that stands near the northern end of the promenade.
