Slough

Slough is a unitary authority in Berkshire, South East England centred on the town of Slough. The town sits on the Great Western Main Line with rail services linking to London Paddington and westward destinations. Roads such as the A4 and the nearby M4 corridor shape local movement and logistics. Housing, shopping parades and civic buildings cluster around the town centre and high street, while the council area includes suburban neighbourhoods and short stretches of river and canal frontage.

Industry and commerce are concentrated at the Slough Trading Estate, established in the 1920s and noted as one of the largest industrial estates in single private ownership in Europe; it remains a major local employer. The Slough Arm of the Grand Union Canal terminates at a basin that once served local brickworks and light industry. Parks such as Salt Hill and Herschel Park provide green space within the urban area. The original UK filming of the television series The Office used premises on the trading estate, reflecting the estate’s industrial character and its place in local history.
