Stalybridge North

Stalybridge North ward covers the northern residential districts of the town, characterised by terraced housing and local amenities that serve the community. The area includes the neighbourhoods around Castle Hall and the streets leading up to the foothills of the Pennines. It is a primarily residential part of Tameside with several local parks and schools embedded within its urban fabric.

The ward is defined by the River Tame, which flows through its centre, and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal running parallel to it. This canal corridor, with its historic locks and towpath, forms a distinct linear green space through the urban area. The local landscape is shaped by the proximity to the open moorland of the Pennine edge, visible from its higher streets.
