About

Taff's Well sits in the Taff valley, built around a warm mineral spring that feeds a small pool at the foot of the hillside. The spring is the only thermal spring in Wales and shaped the village layout, with terraced streets, a railway station on the Merthyr Line and community services clustered nearby. River Taff runs past the settlement and the Taff Trail follows the river through the area, offering walking and cycling links toward neighbouring valleys.
Nantgarw lies just east of Taff's Well on higher ground and has a long history of ceramics. In the early 19th century the Nantgarw China Works produced fine porcelain and pieces bearing the name are collected for their thin white glaze and hand‑painted decoration. Today the landscape combines former industrial sites, housing and green corridors along the river, with local clubs, a few shops and sports pitches serving residents. The area is commonly used by commuters and by people accessing valley footpaths.
