About

Tenby sits on the south Pembrokeshire coast with a medieval town wall that still follows the harbour and upper streets. The harbour is a working harbour with passenger boats that run to nearby islands and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path passes along the headland. Five beaches step down from the town to the sea and a tidal causeway links the shore to St Catherine’s Island, a small island with a 19th‑century fort visible at low tide.

Across a short passenger crossing from Tenby, Caldey Island is home to a Cistercian community based at Caldey Abbey. The island is largely car‑free and visitors follow footpaths to the priory, the old graveyard and the monastic shop where monks sell handmade chocolate and honey. Walks round the island take in cliffs, sheltered coves and views back to Tenby, and a small harbour receives the regular boats that bring day visitors and supplies. Seals and seabirds are often seen from the headland and island paths.
