Upton ward lies in the northern section of Wirral, primarily a residential suburb with a mix of housing types. The area is centred around the Upton Village conservation area, which features local shops and services along the main roads. Residential streets branch out from this core, consisting largely of interwar and post-war semi-detached and detached homes. The ward is bordered by the A551 and A5027 roads, providing connections to Birkenhead and the M53 motorway.
