Weald North

The Weald North ward is located on the western edge of the Ashford borough, encompassing a primarily rural landscape. It includes the villages of Bethersden and High Halden, along with surrounding farmland and woodland. The area is characterised by its agricultural activity and historic settlements, with a network of minor roads connecting the communities. The topography is gently rolling, typical of the broader Weald region from which it takes its name.

A notable feature is the Bethersden Marble, a limestone containing fossilised shells that has been quarried locally for centuries and used in many historic buildings. The ward contains several conservation areas protecting its traditional village character, with buildings often featuring local materials like timber framing and clay tiles. Community life centres around village halls, local pubs, and parish churches, with limited larger-scale development.
