Woodberry Down & Manor House

Woodberry Down grew up around a large post‑war estate in Hackney that has been subject to phased redevelopment since the early 2000s. The estate mix includes council housing and newer private blocks, and local services are concentrated along the roads that meet at Manor House. Manor House itself is the name used for the area around the tube station on the Piccadilly line, where buses and shops link to other parts of north London and the Seven Sisters Road runs through the local high street scene.

On the estate’s northern edge sit the East and West reservoirs, now managed as Woodberry Wetlands by the London Wildlife Trust, with a public boardwalk and a bird hide facing the water. The West Reservoir Centre, beside the water, runs activities that use the reservoir itself and provides a local focus for outdoor sports. Paths around the reservoirs and through adjoining green strips create short walking routes and wildlife pockets within the built area, and the mix of housing, transport and open water shapes daily life in this part of Hackney.
