Blackheath Westcombe

Blackheath Westcombe occupies the southeastern corner of Greenwich borough, characterised by its elevated position on the plateau of Blackheath. The area is largely residential, with streets of Victorian and Edwardian houses, alongside significant areas of social housing. It is bordered by the expansive, open grassland of Blackheath itself, which provides a large common space for recreation and events. The A2 road cuts through the ward, acting as a major transport route.

The ward includes the Westcombe Park neighbourhood, known for its railway station and quieter, suburban streets. A notable feature is the presence of the Meridian Line, which runs directly through the area, marked locally in places like the Meridian Mews development. The landscape is defined by steep slopes leading down towards the Thames, with pockets of woodland like Eliot Vale. Institutional buildings, including the former Brook Hospital site, are part of the local fabric.
