About

Borth ward is a coastal area in Ceredigion, situated on a long shingle ridge. The settlement includes the village of Borth itself, which stretches along the main road parallel to the beach. To the south, the ward extends into the raised bog of Cors Fochno, a significant peatland habitat. The area is dominated by its exposure to Cardigan Bay, with a beach that shelves steeply into the sea.

Inland from the village, the landscape transitions to agricultural land and the lower slopes of the Cambrian Mountains. The ward contains the northern part of the Dyfi National Nature Reserve, centered on the bog system. A submerged ancient forest is sometimes visible on the beach at very low tides, revealing tree stumps and peat beds. The area's economy has historical ties to the sea and more recently to tourism.
