About

Castle Baynard ward occupies the southwestern corner of the City of London, stretching from Blackfriars to the Temple. Its western boundary is defined by the River Fleet, now flowing beneath Farringdon Street. The area contains a mix of modern office developments and historic legal institutions, with the historic Temple area lying just outside its formal boundary.

The ward is notably home to the College of Arms, the official heraldic authority for England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and much of the Commonwealth. This Tudor-revival building on Queen Victoria Street has granted coats of arms since the 15th century. The area's layout still follows some medieval street patterns, with the church of St. Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe serving as a local parish church.
