About

Faenor is a ward within the parish of Llanfarian, situated on the northern outskirts of Aberystwyth along the A487 road. It is a primarily residential area, characterised by housing estates and individual homes, serving as a commuter settlement for the university and administrative centre nearby. The ward includes the small settlement of Penparcau and borders the River Rheidol to the north, with views towards the higher ground of the Ceredigion countryside.

The area contains the Parc y Llyn retail park, a significant local commercial hub. A notable feature is the preserved remains of the Aberystwyth and Welsh Coast Railway's original 1864 station building, which now functions as a private residence, reflecting the area's historical transport links. Land use is mixed, with some agricultural land and light industry present alongside the residential developments.
