About

Falsgrave sits immediately west of Scarborough town centre in North Yorkshire and is centred on Falsgrave Road, the main thoroughfare through the area. Once a separate settlement, it was absorbed as Scarborough expanded in the 19th and 20th centuries. The road still carries a mix of local shops, takeaways and small businesses, and there is a primary school and community centre serving local residents. Housing is mainly terraces and semi-detached streets laid out in phases from the Victorian period through the mid 20th century.

Public transport links provide regular bus services into the town, and short residential streets lead down to the main shopping and civic area of Scarborough. Small greens and pocket parks break the street pattern, and allotment plots remain on the western edge of the suburb. Falsgrave’s character comes from its role as a working neighbourhood close to the town centre, with a long-established parade along Falsgrave Road that still functions as the area’s commercial spine.
