Gronant, Ffynnongroyw and Trelawnyd occupy a coastal-to-hill slice of Flintshire in north‑east Wales. Ffynnongroyw and Gronant sit along the A548 close to the shore, with housing and village facilities arranged along the road and short lanes leading to the beach. At the northern edge of Gronant the sand dune system is designated as a National Nature Reserve, with paths that meet the shoreline and areas managed for breeding waders and dune flora. Trelawnyd lies a short distance inland on higher ground, with fields and hedgerows marking the parish boundaries. A short walk from the village brings you to the Gop, a large Neolithic mound set on a limestone outcrop that has long been a landmark for the area.
