Hipperholme

Hipperholme sits in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, between Halifax and Brighouse. It forms part of the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe ward of Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council and occupies higher ground on the southern edge of the borough with views toward the South Pennines. Local roads link the village to Brighouse, Halifax and Leeds; Brighouse railway station is a short drive away and regular bus services connect the centre with neighbouring settlements.

The village developed around 18th- and 19th-century textile activity, and stone mill buildings and rows of terraced houses remain along the valley streets; several former mill sites have been converted to housing and small businesses. Hipperholme supports independent shops, pubs, primary schools and sports clubs used by surrounding communities. Footpaths and lanes lead directly from residential streets onto farmland and moorland on the Pennine fringe, making countryside walks readily accessible. Community groups and occasional local events meet in village halls and school grounds, keeping local networks active.
